Jarvis Cocker (born September 19th, 1963, in Sheffield, England) is a British pop music star, best known for fronting the band Pulp.
Jarvis founded Arabacus Pulp at the age of 15 whilst he was still at school. After numerous line-up changes, and a shortening of the name to just Pulp, they shot to fame in the 1990s with the great commercial success of the albums His and Hers (1994) and Different Class (1995).
Cocker was also renowned for being a witty, but never cynical observer of the cultural scene far beyond pop music, and was seen by many as the ultimate Britpop sex symbol.
His interest in The Polyphonic Spree was caught when the band first arrived in the UK. He got in contact with them, resulting in a DJ set and performance in the choir for their show at Shepherd's Bush Empire on October 27th, 2002.
Jarvis also directed the video for the UK release of Hanging Around the Day. It features the band dancing around a big canvas womb, lit up with different colours.
